Note: Students thinking of specialising in Chemical Biomolecular Engineering are advised to take CHEM1101 Chemistry 1A.

Note: The list above shows Semester 1 core units for Flexible First Year Stream A as part of an Engineering/Science combined degree. Stream A provides choice of entry into the Engineering areas of Aeronautical, Aeronautical(Space), Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Mechanical(Space). The list is subject to the following variations.

1. Students planning to specialise in Civil Engineering should take PHYS1001 Physics 1 in place of ENGG1801. ENGG1801 will be taken in second year instead.

2. Students planning to specialise in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering should take CHEM1101 Chemistry 1A.

3. Students may take advanced alternatives in place of MATH1001 and MATH1002 but should check with the Faculty of Science before doing so.

Students wishing to proceed to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering should enrol in their chosen specialisation in second semester. Choice of other Engineering specialisations must be decided by the end of the year.

Year 1 - Semester 2

Engineering Core Options

Note: TThe list above shows Semester 2 core units and elective choices for Flexible First Year Stream A as part of a combined degree. Stream A provides choice of entry into the Engineering areas of Aeronautical, Aeronautical(Space), Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Mechanical(Space). The list is subject to the following variations, according to the specialisation chosen.

1. ENGG1802 is not required for specialisation in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Combined Engineering/Commerce students considering this specialisation should take CHEM1102 instead.

2. Engineering Core Options should be selected according to planned specialisation as follows:

* AMME1550: for Aeronautical, Mechanical and Mechanical(Space) Engineering.

* CHNG1103: Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering.

* ENGG1803: Civil Engineering.

3. Students may enrol in more advanced alternatives to MATH1003 and MATH1005 but should check with the Faculty of Science before doing so.

Students should consult school advisors so that a correct choice of core and elective is made.

Note: Junior, Intermediate and Senior Science units should be selected so as to ensure that 72 credit points of Science units, including one major, are completed in addition to the units completed as part of the engineering core. Every major requires at least 24 credit points of senior units plus varying amounts of intermediate and junior credit points as prerequisites for the senior units. Please see Science Faculty 2011 handbook for details of specific majors.
