2023 unit information

Computer programming (aka coding) in digital era has been increasingly as important as literacy and numeracy. This OLE unit is designed for students who do not have any background of coding, but want to gain fundamental knowledge and skills of coding. It covers core coding concepts including statement, variable, flow control, and functions through digital media, such as graphics, animation, and sound, and interaction. Students are able to unleash their creativity through coding in this unit.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. apply basic skills to design a computational solution for a task
  • LO2. understand the coding concepts of statement, variable, flow control, array, and function
  • LO3. understand code skeletons
  • LO4. understand the basics of digital media and electronics
  • LO5. code for a simple task with interactive media
  • LO6. seek suitable support documents for coding tasks
  • LO7. communicate a computational solution verbally or descriptively in project report
  • LO8. demonstrate basic project management and teamwork skills, such as scoping, planning, and responsibility.
