Brief Handbook Description: This unit of study aims to provide an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of traffic engineering, traffic flow theory, traffic modelling, and operations.

Topics include: fundamentals of traffic flow theory; Schock Wave analysis, micro-modeling; macro-modelling; queuing theory; intersection control; ramp metering; traffic simulation; traffic data collection and analysis; and crowd dynamics.
Assumed Knowledge: (CIVL2700 OR CIVL9700) AND (MATH1001 OR MATH1021) AND (MATH1003 OR MATH1023) AND MATH1005 AND ENGG1801. Basic statistics through regression analysis, differential and integral calculus, computer programming.
