The course requirements described here apply to persons who commenced their candidature after 1 January, 2023 and persons who commenced their candidature prior to 1 January, 2023 who elect to proceed under 2023 resolutions.
Candidates who commenced prior to 1 January, 2023 may complete the requirements in accordance with the resolutions in force at the time of their commencement, provided that requirements are completed by 1 January, 2028, or later date as the faculty may, in special circumstances, approve.
Candidates who first commenced in 2023, and are re-enrolling for 2024 or later, should be aware that there may have been changes in units of study offered since, Check that units are still available by clicking the unit of study link in the course table. Candidates for the degree of Master of Information Technology Management must complete a total of 72 credit points from the units of study.
All candidates for the Master of Information Technology Management are required to complete a substantial project that will allow the student to apply and demonstrate their knowledge and skills from the program.
A candidate for the Master of Information Technology Management must complete 24 credit points from Core, Specialist or Foundation units of study before taking any Project units.
Admission to project and research units of study is subject to availability of supervision and to the approval of the Dean or nominee.
Research Pathway - Course Requirements
Candidates who achieved a Distinction average or above in their first 24 credit points of enrolment may be eligible for the Research Pathway, subject to the approval of the Program Director.
Candidates in the Research Pathway must take all 24 credit points of the Research Pathway units of study (COMP5702, COMP5704, and INFO5993).
Students who choose the Research Pathway will be required to choose a project undertaken in an area related to their chosen major.
Professional Pathway
Note:
Candidates for the degree of Master of Information Technology Management must complete a total of 72 credit points from the units of study.
All candidates for the Master of Information Technology Management are required to complete a substantial project that will allow the student to apply and demonstrate their knowledge and skills from the program.
A candidate for the Master of Information Technology Management must complete 24 credit points from Core, Specialist or Foundation units of study before taking any Project units.
Admission to project and research units of study is subject to availability of supervision and to the approval of the Dean or nominee.
Professional Pathway Project Units - Course Requirements
The minimum requirement for the Professional Pathway is 12 credit points of Information Technology Capstone project units.
Candidates can complete either COMP5707 and COMP5708 (6+6 credit points - two semesters), or as COMP5703 or COMP5709 (12 credit points - single semester).
Research Pathway
Note:

IT Project Elective Units
A candidate for the Master of Information Technology must complete 24 credit points from Core, Specialist or Foundation units of study before taking any Information Technology Project units in the Elective block (COMP5705).
Students will be allowed to take COMP5705 from the Elective Block in addition to the Information Technology Capstone project (12 CPS - COMP5703 or COMP5707 & COMP5708). Completion of COMP5705 does not provide credit towards requirements for the IT Capstone Project.

Note:
All candidates for the Master of Information Technology Management are required to complete a substantial project that will allow the student to apply and demonstrate their knowledge and skills from the program.
A candidate for the Master of Information Technology Management must complete 24 credit points from Core, Specialist or Foundation units of study before taking any Project units.
Admission to project and research units of study is subject to availability of supervision and to the approval of the Dean or nominee.
Professional Pathway Project Units
The minimum requirement for the Professional Pathway is 12 credit points of Information Technology Capstone project Units.
Candidates can complete either COMP5707 and COMP5708 (6+6 credit points - two semesters), or as COMP5703 or COMP5709 (12 credit points - single semester). The standard enrolment is COMP5703.
Research Pathway Units
Candidates who achieved a Distinction average or above in their first 24 credit points of enrolment may be eligible for the Research Pathway, subject to the approval of the Program Director.
Candidates in the Research Pathway must take all 24 credit points of the Research Pathway units of study (COMP5702, COMP5704 and INFO5993).
Students who choose the Research Pathway will be required to choose a project undertaken in an area related to their chosen major.

Requirements: | 1. Candidates for the degree of Master of Information Technology Management must complete a total of 72 credit points, and must fulfill all requirements for their award as defined by the Course Resolutions of the Faculty of Engineering and IT. 2. Candidates commence their enrolment in the Professional Pathway. 3. After completing 24 credit points of coursework students may then select 12 credit points of Professional Pathway Project units (COMP5703 or COMP5707 & COMP5708). 4. After completing 24 credit points of coursework students who achieve Distinction average results or above may be eligible for the Research Pathway subjects with the approval of the Program Director. 5. Students in the Professional Pathway must complete 18 credit points of the Core units of study, a minimum of 18 credit points of the Specialist units of study, a minimum of 12 credit points of the Professional Pathway Project units of study, a maximum of 12 credit points of the Foundation units of study and no credit points from the Research Pathway units of study. 6. Students in the Research Pathway must complete a minimum of 18 credit points of the Core units of study, a minimum of 18 credit points of the Specialist units of study, a minimum of 24 credit points of the Research Pathway units of study, a maximum of 12 credit points of the Foundation units of study and no credit points from the Professional Pathway Project units of study. 7. A maximum of 12 credit points may be selected with the approval of the Program Director from units outside the School of IT (different unit codes than COMP, INFO or ISYS). 8. Enrolment in the Master of Information Technology Management may be either part-time or full-time with a maximum completion time of 6 years.
