The completion of a specialisation is not mandatory. If a student chooses to do a specialisation it must be completed within the 168 credit points outlined above. Specialisations are listed in the 'Majors/Pathways' tab.

ˆ Students in the combined degree with Science (Medical Science stream) are exempt from BMET2901 as the equivalent is covered in the MedSci component of the degree, and therefore enrol in 162 cp of Engineering units.

Science (Medical Science Stream) (*84 credit points):

► 24 credit points of Science degree core units (12cp of Mathematics in Engineering Core and 12cp 1000-level MedSci units meet this requirement)

► 72 credit points of Medical Science units (note that CHEM1111 is also in the Biomedical stream, students therefore complete 66cp Medical Science units)

► 6 credit points of OLE units

► 6 credit points of Science Table A units

* With units taken as part of the Engineering component, students enrol in 78cp Science in total.

Advanced units in Maths and Science

Most units of study offered by the Science Faculty on the list of core requirements can be replaced by an equivalent advanced level unit; subject to prerequisite conditions (as required by the Faculty of Science) being met. Students considering doing advanced options should seek advice from their department before enrolling.
